Knox County Code Compliance Officer Closer to Installation

The Knox County Commissioners have passed on first reading the position of Code Compliance Officer. The ordinance will be up for final passage at the Commissioners’ session on Monday, December 18th.
Knox County Attorney Yvette Kirchoff brought the final draft of the ordinance to the Commissioners at their session earlier this week. Kirchoff says a good number of qualified candidates have expressed interest. Nominations from qualified applicants are being accepted through four p-m December 18th. The independent contractor position will begin with the start of the new year.
The Code Compliance officer will work with the Knox County Solid Waste Management District and Knox Superior Court Two. The job is mainly to enforce illegal dumping ordinances. The Commissioners emphasize the position is NOT a County Building Inspector’s position.
