Knox County Library Recommending Future Computer Upgrade

Knox County Public Library consultant Tim Trotter is recommending a future upgrade to a set of Library computers. Trotter told the Library Board yesterday that Microsoft will end support for its Windows 7 computers in January of 2020. Trotter recommends the Windows 7 based computers be taken out of core Library use during that 20-month time period.
Trotter also told the Library Board all Library computer servers and work stations are up to date, with needed anti-virus software in place. He did recommend that Library officials stay current with anti-virus updates, due to constant threats from new computer viruses.

In other business, the Board met new Library Youth Coordinator Roger Stremming. Stremming also received a 500 dollar budget for the Library’s Youth Department to make a float for the annual Vincennes Fourth of July parade. Stremming and Youth Department participants will now work on the entry for the coming parade.
