Vincennes Water Utilities officials are preparing for rehabilitation work to begin on the water tank at Vincennes University. The tank work is scheduled to start on June eleventh, and is expected to last around six weeks.
Vincennes Utilities general manager Kirk Bouchie told the Utility Services Board the tank will also change its look. The tank will change from a white tank with green letters to a light blue tank with dark blue letters. It will also have the name of Vincennes University, and the VU logo, on the tank’s facing. The extra lettering work will cost eleven-thousand dollars; the lettering expense will be covered by Vincennes University.
The repairs to the Vincennes University tank are the first of four sets of repairs to the City’s tanks. One tank per year will be repaired from now through 2021.
In other business, Vincennes Water Utilities recently received a 50-year fluoridation award from the American Dental Association. The award recognized Vincennes Water Utilities for adding fluoride to the water supply since 1967.
