Knox County CASA Funded for Second Full-Time Spot

The Knox County Council approved a 40-thousand dollar transfer to add a second full-time position for the Knox County CASA program. The second position will help coordinate volunteers working with children in Knox County court cases.
The staff position approval followed the Knox County CASA’s yearly report to Council. It was the final report for outgoing CASA Director Dena Held, as she is leaving the position on July 31st. Held reported last year, Knox County CASA volunteers spent around four-thousand hours involved with cases involving children in need of services. Following the report, CASA officials showed a six-minute video highlighting the CASA program itself.
Finally, Council members recognized Held’s 11 years of service by proclaiming her as a “Sycamore of the Wabash.” The Sycamore is Knox County’s highest individual honor; it is based on the state of Indiana’s “Sagamore of the Wabash” award.
