Preparations Continue for Friday’s Cal Ripken World Series

While the adults made plans to make players and their families feel welcome in Vincennes, kids drew signs supporting the players for the Cal Ripken 10 year old World Series last night at Clark Middle School. Teams from as far away as Hawaii will arrive on Thursday, the first of 40 games start at 1 pm Friday, the opening ceremony is Friday night at Cub Leagues’ Joe Bilskie Field at 7:45 pm with more games to follow. The championship game will take place on Sunday August 11th. Almost 100 local families will support the teams. In addition to two Vincennes teams in the tournament, locals will act as bat boys, teams princesses, and adult team liaison. The games are open to the public and discounted tickets are available for $20 for the tournament at local banks through today. Starting tomorrow, tickets are $30 for the tournament. Kid prices are lower. Fredbird – the mascot of the St. Louis Cardinals will be at Cub League Sunday from 4 to 6 pm – sponsored by WZDM. All 40 games in the tournament will be streamed at WZDM.com and all games with a Vincennes team participating will also be broadcast on Wisdom 92.1 WZDM as well as streamed.
