The Vincennes Lincoln boys basketball team is back on the high school hardwood tonight as the one and oh Alices travel down to Evansville to take on Mater Dei. It’s the season opener for the Wildcats. JV is at 6:30 with Varsity play at 8. You can hear the game on WZDM 92.1FM.

The Vincennes Rivet boys basketball team journeys to Shakamak to take on the Lakers. It is the season opener for both teams. JV begins at 6 with Varsity tipping off at 7:30. You can hear the game on WAOV 97.7FM.

The VU Trailblazers remain unbeaten after a 101-69 win over Roane State at the Mineral Area Thanksgiving Classic. Keith Clemons lead VU in scoring with 20 points while George Dixon chipped in 19. Lony Francis Junior added 17 points for his season high while Cardell McGee scoed 10 points and grabbed 8 boards.

In some boy’s basketball action yesterday, play began in the 8 team Lawrence County Capital classic with games taking place at both Lawrenceville and Red Hill. In action at Lawrenceville, Fairfield beat Lawrenceville 62-57 and Salem edged the Indians 65-59 in overtime. Fairfield beat Olney 59-52 and Olney dropped Salem 59-53.

At the Red Hill gym, the host Salukis defeated Mount Carmel 51-46 and lost to Marshall 69-66. Also Teutopolis downed Mount Carmel 59-30 and T-town also beat Marshall 75-53.

Play begins in the classic today at 10am central ,at Lawrenceville , Fairfield plays Salem followed by Lawrenceville against Olney. At the Red Hill gym, Red Hill plays Teutopolis followed by Mount Carmel against Marshall.

Then at 3:30 the game for 7th place begins followed by the games for 5th, 3rd , and first place will take place. All four games will be played at the Lawrenceville gym.

Also on the local sports scene for today the Vincennes Lincoln wrestling team gets its season underway by hosting the Vincennes Invitational beginning at 9am at LHS.

The IHSAA football  state championship games are taking place at Lucas Oil stadium in Indianapolis. On Friday in the Class 2A state championship game, Western Boone beat Eastbrook 34-20. In the Class 4A title game, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger outlasted Evansville Central 16-10 in four overtimes and in the Class 6A championship game Warren Central dropped Carmel 27-7. Three more state championship games are on tap for today. At noon, in the Class A title game North Vermillion plays Pioneer. At 3:30 in the Class 3A championship game Evansville Memorial takes on West Lafayette and at 7pm in the Class 5A championship game New Palestine battles Decatur Central.

In college football action today, IU hosts Purdue in the old Oaken bucket game. Both teams are 5-6 and each trying to become bowl eligible. You can hear the game on WZDM 92.1FM beginning with the pre game at 11am.

Tonight, Notre Dame will look to finish regular season play undefeated as the Irish play at USC.

In some college Hoops yesterday, IU defeated UC-Davis 76-62. Purdue crushed Robert Morris 84-46 and Butler beat Florida 61-54.

And in the NBA, San Antonio downed the Indiana Pacers 111-100
