Hundreds of people filled the auditorium of Heritage Hills High School in Lincoln City this week for an I-DEM hearing on Riverview Energy’s proposed $2.5 billion coal-
to-diesel plant.
Some of the more than 400 people who attended Wednesday’s hearing voiced concern about the project while others supported it.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management says the plant’s emissions would not have a significant effect on regional air quality.
But opponents say they’re worried about the health and environmental impacts of the plant, which would convert the region’s coal reserves into diesel fuel and other products.
