The United Way of Knox County is seeking taxpayers to get involved in VITA tax preparation. The VITA– or Volunteer Income Tax Assistance– program will be offered as a drop-off service throughout February. Taxes for VITA work may be dropped off at the Knox County Public Library in Vincennes Saturdays from February 2nd to February 23rd. In Bicknell, the drop off dates are on two Thursdays– February 7th and 14th– at the Bicknell-Vigo Public Library.
United Way prsident Mark Hill says tax forms and laws have changed this year…

Hill says the VITA tax preparation program is for everyone…

VITA drop-off materials must include a photo ID, Social Security information for the taxpayer and dependents, all tax forms, a 2015 tax return, and bank account number for direct deposit. Homeowners must also bring in their property tax statement, and renters must have their landlord’s name and address.
VITA officials expect the dropped off tax forms to be completed within a week.
