Two Vehicle Accident in Clark Co. IL Takes Life of Area Softball Player

CLARK CO. IL – An accident Saturday Morning on Illinois Route 1 has taken the life of a Martinsville, IL woman.

At 8:30 AM CT, Clark Co. Sheriff’s officials as well as Illinois State Police and several other agencies were called to Illinois Route 1 south of Ernst Rd for an accident involving a semi and a passenger car.Initial reports state that a vehicle was on fire and that there was entrapment. Earlier Saturday Afternoon, officials released the name of the deceased as Audria Truelove.

After the news was officials, Lincoln Trail College President Dr. Ryan Gower released this statement:

It is with great sadness that we must share with you that the Lincoln Trail College family lost one of our members today – Audria Truelove. The college has made grief counseling available to our student athletes through the Highland Church of Christ and First United Methodist Church. Counseling services will also be available on campus on Monday for students, faculty & staff. Our thoughts are with all those impacted – Audria’s teammates, her classmates and instructors, and most especially her family.

Truelove was a freshman for Lincoln Trail College. On the season, she was hitting .182 with 2 hits and 2 runs scored for the Lady Statesmen.

After news broke on campus of the accident, officials postponed their basketball double header with Wabash Valley to Saturday, March 2nd. The women will play at 1 PM with the men scheduled for 3 PM.
