Another Knox county high school boys basketball team is ready to take the hardwood tonight as the Vincennes Rivet Patriots play host to Shakamak. It is also the season opener for the Lakers. JV is at 6 with Varsity play at 7:30. You can hear the game on WAOV 97.7 FM.

 

In some boys hoops from yesterday, Washington downed White River Valley 57-43. Princeton beat Evansville North 53-46, Evansville Mater Dei defeated North Davies 61-51 and North Posey rolled by Boonville 72-38.

In action from day one of the Lawrence County Capital Classic:

At Red Hill, Salem downed Red Hill 66-33, Fairfield dropped Olney 65-47, Olney beat Red Hill 60-25 and Fairfield downed Salem 44-38.

At Lawrenceville, Mount Carmel beat Edwards County 52-28, Marshall dropped Lawrenceville 70-46, Marshall defeated Mount Carmel 58-48 and Lawrenceville dropped Edwards County 77-35.

Three IHSAA football ball champions were crowned at Lucas Oil stadium yesterday. Lafayette Central Catholic edged Indianapolis Lutheran 29-28 to win the Class A title.

In Class 3A , Indianapolis Chatard dropped Heritage Hills 34-3.

In Class 5A, New Palestine defeated Valporaiso 27-20 to win the state.

Three more state champs will be crowned today. At Noon in the Class 2A title game Eastbrook plays Western Boone.

The 4A title begins at 3:30 with Evansville Memorial playing East Nob!e.

At 7p in the Class 6A championship game Carmel plays Center Grove.

 

In College football today it’s the Battle for the Old Oaken Bucket in West Lafayette as 4-7 Purdue hosts 7-4 IU. You can hear the game on WZDM 92.1FM beginning with the pregame at 11am.

The 6-0 IU basketball team will be in action at home today with South Dakota State. You can hear the game on WZDM right after the conclusion of the IU – Purdue game.

 

The Pacers were a winner in NBA play as Indiana nipped Atlanta 105-104 in overtime.
