Water customers for the City of Petersburg, and Pike-Gibson Water Corporation, are under a boil order until further notice. The order is due to a large water leak.
Both Petersburg and Pike-Gibson Water crews fixed the leak earlier this afternoon. However, the precautionary boil order is still in place for the near future. Water crews remind everyone to boil water for five minutes before using, while the order is in place.
Originally, customers in the leak area were asked to limit water usage while the leak was repaired. However, after the leak’s repair, the water use limits were lifted.
No information has been released yet on what may have caused the leak.
