VU Student’s Painting Finds Temporary Home on Capitol Hill

A painting by a Vincennes University student is currently on display in a prominent walkway on Capitol Hill in Washington.

V-U freshman Lydia Higgins’ painting “War Paints” was selected as the winner of the 2020 Congressional Art Contest.  The contest was held by current 15th District Illinois Congressman John Shimkus.  Higgins’ painting, and other similar art work, is on display in the tunnel between the U-S House of Representatives and the Cannon Office Building.  The Lawrenceville native Higgins is currently studying elementary education at V-U; part of her plan as a teacher is to incorporate art into her future classroom.
