The Colts blew a 17-point third-quarter lead in a 28-24 loss to the Steelers in Pittsburgh.  Philip Rivers threw for 270 yards and a touchdown, but also lost a fumble and was intercepted in the fourth quarter.  Rookie Jonathan Taylor rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns in defeat. With the loss, the Colts’ playoff chances are uncertain.  Entering the final week, Indianapolis is 10-and-5, the same record as the Browns, Ravens, Titans and Dolphins.  The Colts need to win against Jacksonville in Week 17 and have one of the other four teams lose to get into the playoffs.

 

Other NFL Winners so far in Week 16 include New Orleans, Tampa, San Francisco, Miami, Baltimore, Cincinnati, The New York Jets, Chicago, Kansas City, Carolina, The LA Chargers, Dallas, Seattle, and Green Bay. Tonight’s Monday Night Football Finale features Buffalo hosting New England.

 

Domantas (Doh-Mahn-Tehs)  Sabonis (Sah-Bone-us) scored the go-ahead layup with 8.4 seconds left as the Pacers slipped past the Celtics 108-107 in Indianapolis.  Sabonis finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists as Indiana improved to 3-and-0.  Malcolm Brogdon led the Pacers with 25 points.  Jayson Tatum tallied 25 points, 11 boards and five assists for Boston, which dropped to 1-and-2.  Jaylen Brown added 18 points for the Celtics in the setback. The Pacers were playing shorthanded.  Center Goga (go-gah) Bitadze (bee-tahd-zea), forward Brian Bowen the Second and guard Jeremy Lamb missed their third straight game with injuries.  Bitadze has a right ankle sprain and will be reevaluated in two weeks, while Bowen has a right groin tear and is expected to be sidelined six to eight weeks.  Lamb is rehabbing from a left knee injury that prematurely ended his 2019-20 season.

Other NBA Winners from Sunday include Dallas, Charlotte, Orlando, New Orleans, Cleveland, New York, Golden State, Phoenix, and the LA Lakers.

In college basketball,  Purdue will play tomorrow night at Rutgers in a Big Ten encounter.  The Boilermakers are coming off a 73-70 win Friday over Maryland at Mackey Arena with Brandon Newman scoring 17 points.  Purdue is 7-and-3.  Armaan Franklin scored 23 points, but Indiana lost 69-60 at Illinois in a Big Ten battle on Saturday.  The Hoosiers will take a 6-and-4 record into Wednesday’s game at home against Penn State.  Yesterday, unbeaten Drake won 81-63 at Indiana State.  The two will rematch today at the Hulman Center.  The Sycamores are 3-and-3.

The Wabash Valley Classic Continues at Terre Haute today. The Linton Miners will take on Terre Haute North at 1:30 this afternoon. That game can be heard on Sunrise 93.3 WQTY. Both teams lost their first round game on Saturday. Sullivan is also in action today. The Golden Arrows will take on Northview at 7:30 this evening.
