Melting snow from last week’s winter storms will raise area rivers—but not over flood stage.
The biggest impact will be on the White River at Edwarsdport. Weather service forecasters expect the highest water level there at this point to top around around a foot below flood stage. The river is expected to rise to two feet below flood stage at Petersburg.
The Wabash at Vincennes will top out around ten feet—well below its flood stage. Downriver at Mount Carmel, the Wabash is also forecast to stay well below bankfull conditions.
On the Embarras River at Lawrenceville, the river will crest about three feet below flood stage. After hitting their high water marks, the rivers are expected to stay near those levels for a few days before falling.
