Sunday (5/16) Sports Wrap Up

The North Knox Warriors picked up a win Saturday on the road as they defeated the Clay City Eels 4-2. The Warriors got on the board in the first, fell behind 4-2 after 4 before retaking the lead in the 5th for good after scoring two runs. The Warriors added an insurance run in the 7th.

Cole Jones went two of three for North Knox with a pair of RBIs. Mason Lyons tossed 5 innings of 2 run baseball giving up 3 hits and striking out 8 for the win. Rhett Sheren threw 2 innings and only allowed 1 hit for the save.

In other baseball action, Vincennes Lincoln fell to Gibson Southern 8-0. The Titans got on the board in the 4th inning and added a pair in the top of the 5th. Lincoln had their best scoring chance in the 5th with 2 on and two out, but failed to cash in. Gibson Southern added 3 more in the 6th and 1 more in the 7th for the 8-0 Margin. Lincoln is now 9-14 on the year. They are back in action Monday at home with Evansville Harrison

The South Knox Spartans fell on the road to Linton 7-6. The Spartans are back in action Tuesda y at home with North Knox.

The Blue Chip Conference Golf Meet took place Saturday at Country Oaks in Montgomery. Barr-Reeve finished first followed by Loogootee, South Knox, Wood Memorial, Vincennes Rivet, Washington Catholic, and North Knox.

For South Knox, Cameron Chattin shot an 86 while Zac Schmidt carded an 88. Grayden Mansfield shot an 89 while Easton Peters and Luke Williams each scored 95.

For Vincennes Rivet, Christian Steininger carded an 83 with Parker Steininger had a round of 87. Curtis Shake shot a 102, Peyton Catt a 120, and Cameron Linn a 122.

Clark 7th and 8th Grade Track Teams took part in their conference meet at Jasper on Saturday.

For Clark 8th Grade, they saw 2nd place finished from Greer Hardin in the 200 Meter, Lorine Lorial in Discus, and the 4 by 400 relay team of Mylee Muranaka, Vinci Weisenberger, Lorine Lorial, and McKenna Poyser.  Clark saw 3rd place finished from Hardin in the 100 Meter, Lorial in the Shot Put, and with the 4 by 100 meter relay team of Muranaka, Weisenberger, Raney Cory, and Hardin. Clark had 4th place finished from Muranaka in the 800 meter run, Cory in the 100 Meter Hurdles, and Poyser for the 1600 meter run.

For Clark 7th Grade, Alivia Eaton had a first place finish in the shot put. Clark saw 4th place finished from JJ Riggs in Long Jump and Hayden Cox in the 100 meter hurdles. Cami Tredway finished 5th in the 1600 meter.
