The Knox County Commissioners will try again for an over-million dollar additional appropriation from the Knox County Council. The Commissioners are seeking the funding to repair nine Knox County roads damaged due to extreme temperatures last winter.
Knox County Highway Department director Benji Boyd told the Commissioners his crews have patched the roads at this time. However, he calls the move a temporary solution, and that the roads need to be repaired. Boyd estimated the roads would need around one-point-four million dollars in repairs. Of the nine roads targeted for repair, eight of them are in northern Knox County.
This is the second time the Commissioners have submitted the request for added funds for the roads; the first time was in May. At this time, Council members have not acted on the request.
