Thanksgiving: COVID-19

Thanksgiving gatherings raise the threat of adding to the latest wave of COVID-19.

But health experts aren’t as concerned as they were last year.

Three-million Hoosiers are vaccinated against COVID-19.

That’s three million more than last Thanksgiving.

I-U Chief Health Officer Aaron Carroll says huge gatherings which include unvaccinated people pose a risk of COVID spread but notes that’s true whether it’s Thanksgiving or not.

He says if everyone at your Thanksgiving dinner is vaccinated and takes precautions, it shouldn’t be an issue.

I-U Health South Central Regional President Brian Shockney says there’s nothing wrong with asking your guests if they’re vaccinated and reminding them to stay home if they have a fever or other symptoms.
