The North Knox School Board held a public hearing last night on a nearly 15 million dollar proposed budget for the coming school year. The hearing was held last night in the Corporation’s administrative center. The tax levy for 2024 was set at 72 cents per hundred in assessed property value; however, after adjustments, officials expect the final levy to be near the current 34 cent level.
The new budget comes within about 63-hundred dollars of being fully funded. That deficit can be easily covered from this year’s budget. However, North Knox superintendent Darrell Bobe admits a declining enrollment trend has made budgeting a bit more of a challenge.
The North Knox School Board will consider final approval of the Corporation’s 2024 budget in October.
