One week remains before work begins on Hart Street between 15th Street and Veterans’ Memorial Drive. Road crews will resurface and restore that section of Hart Street, and reconfigure it to a three-lane road, with left turn lanes in the median. The work will close that part of Hart Street at night and through the overnight for four days, weather depending. The three-lane section will end at Veterans’ memorial Drive, with four lanes continuing to Lincoln High School.
Safety is a main reason for the change. Vincennes City Engineer John Sprague says City crews became aware of the reason right after the reconfigure notice was posted, with an injury accident on that stretch the day after the work information was posted.
Resurface work will also be done on Kimmel Road north of Hart Street. That work will also be done at night and overnight, but with traffic allowed on that section
