The body of a child was recovered from the Wabash River near Kimmell Park in Vincennes Thursday night.
The recovery came following a nearly a multi-hour search. The call alerting emergency officials to the scene came in just before three p-m; the body was recovered some time before eight p-m. Reports from the scene say the juvenile was pulled from around six feet of water in an area near the end of the boat ramp.
The case is being investigated at this time by the Indiana Conservation office of the Department of Natural Resources, since the incident happened on a state waterway. No other details are being released at this time.
