Area hospitals report they are facing a critical blood shortage at this time. The need is being driven by an increase in emergency room use, accidents, and more patients requiring blood transfusions. Some hospitals in Indiana report having less than a day’s supply of blood on hand.
With that in mind, the Knox County Health Department is sponsoring a community blood drive on Thursday from 8:45 to 11:00 am in the Department’s Bloodmobile. The vehicle will be parked behind the Health Department headquarters at the Bierhaus Building on Second Street.
The goal is to get at least 20 donors for this blood drive. Appointments are being taken now; more information is available by contacting the Knox County Health Department.
