The Knox County Commissioners have approved an update of the County’s 21 year-old MicroVote machines. The action allows the Knox County Clerk’s office to enter a two-year contract with MicroVote for 70 new machines, for a total price of 196-thousand dollars.
Knox County Attorney Drew Porter told the Commissioners that the machines are part of a special purchase exemption from the normal bidding process. Knox County Clerk David Shelton believes the machines will ready in time for November’s general election.
The Commissioners approved the purchase unanimously.
