The State of Illinois is planning nighttime patrols in various southeast Illionis counties through the rest of the month.
The night-time enforcement will happen in the immediate area in Richland and Wabash counties. Officers will look for impaired driving, speeding, and various seatbelt violations. The night patrols will also focus on distracted driving.
The darkness-based patrols are a response to inreased traffic crashes in the n ight time hours across the affected counties.
