Daviess County has joined the growing list of Indiana counties declaring burn bans due to continued dry weather.
Open burning is prohibited including burning of vegetation, brush, non-contained wood or timber and building construction material.
Campfires and recreational fires are allowed if contained in a burn ring or fire pit.
Gas and charcoal grills are allowed.
If using charcoal, it must be fully extinguished when finished.
Daviess County joins Martin and Gibson counties in this area as being under a burn ban. Burn bans are also in effect in Lawrence and Richland Counties in Illinois.
The Indiana Drought Monitor indicates much of southwest Indiana is in a moderate drought or considered abnormally dry.
