Two mid-60’s graduates of Vincennes Lincoln High School are the lastest to be named as L-H-S Distinguished Alumni. This year’s honorees are 1964 graduate Lawrence Benjamin, and 1966 grad Stephen M. Bowman.
Benjamin is being honored for his work in the hospitality field. That work included the current Mariott TowePlace Suites on Willow Street, and the former Gilbert’s Restaurant, adjacent to the hotel. He also served as Vincennes Police Chief in the 1970’s. serving as one of the youngest police chiefs in Indiana history. Finally, he also became one of the owners of what is now Cypress Hills Golf Club, as part of a ownership partnership in 2017.
Bowman is being honored for his years in education. Thise included his his years as Lincoln High School Assistant Principal from 1993 to 1998, and L-H-S Principal from 1998 to 2004. He has also being honored, among other accolades, for his work with Indiana Boys’ State and Boy’s Nation, and as a high school counselor.
Both men will be honored as part of Homecoming activities at Lincoln High School on Friday, September 27th.
