26 of Indiana’s 92 counties are under burn bans today. In this area, counties remaining under burn bans are Daviess, Martin, and Gibson. The Indiana Drought Monitor reports most of Southern Indiana is in a Moderate drought.
Although there may be some local exceptions, a burn ban means open burning is prohibited including burning of vegetation, brush, non-contained wood or timber and building construction material. Campfires and recreational fires are allowed if contained in a burn ring or fire pit.
Gas and charcoal grills are allowed. If using charcoal, it must be fully extinguished when finished. The latest forecast shows only a 20% chance of rain Sunday night and Monday.
