Unemployment has jumped significantly in Knox County for over the year before.
Knox County’s rate was 4.9%, 1.7% higher than the same time last year.
Martin County tied with Dubois, Clinton, and Boone Counties for the state’s lowest unemployment rate in August at 3.3%.
That’s four tenths of a percent higher than a year ago for Martin County.
Meanwhile, Daviess and Gibson Counties jobless rates last month stood at 3.4%.
That’s seven tenths of a percent higher than the year before for Gibson County and eight tenths of a percent higher for Daviess County.
Pike County’s August jobless rate was 4.2%, a half percent higher than the year before. Sullivan County’s rate of 5% was one percent higher than August 2023.
And Greene County’s unemployment rate stood at 5.3%, also a full percentage point higher.
The average unemployment rate of Indiana’s 92 counties in August was 4.4%.
