The Knox County Commissioners have approved a grant application for the county’s Family Health Center. The Center is seeking 400-thousand dollars to help with kids and teens in crisis in Knox County.
Family Health Center director Jennifer Emmons says statewide officials have targeted Knox County as a prime area for the extra assistance. Dr. Michael Drake also works with the Center. He expects within a short time, those needing crisis assistance can get it by calling 9-8-8.
Those crisis calls set a process in motion for the caller to meet with a mobile crisis team to assist with solving the problem. The crisis process is currently a word of mouth program; a community-wide information campaign is expected in the coming weeks and months.kc
