Washington Man Arrested for Failure to Report a Death

A Washington man was arrested Friday for failing to report the death of his mother.      
Police say they went to the 700 block of Center Street after receiving a tip there was an elderly female deceased in a residence that had not been reported.       
Officers met 54-year-old Marcus Lane and then went to a residence in the 800 block of Center Street where they discovered Marcus’s mother, 91-year-old Phyllis Lane, deceased in the residence.       
Police say that due to her condition, it’s believed she had been dead for a while.      
An autopsy was later performed, and it was determined that her manner of death was of natural causes.       
Marcus was arrested on a charge of Failure to Report the Discovery or Handling of Human Remains.
