Despite an expectation of voter apathy in Indiana, many places statewide are seeing higher vote totals than in recent years.
Knox County is no exception. Over five thousand people have cast early votes; Knox County Clerk David Shelton is pleasantly surprised at the turnout.
Shelton also says a good number of the early voters have been in and out of the voting stalls quickly.
The local races include School Board races in both the Vincennes Community and South Knox school districts. Voters can still cast early ballots weekdays in the lobby of the old Knox County Jail at 135 North 8th Street. On Saturday, they can also vote early there, as well as at the Bicknell Fire station, and Blue Jeans Center in Monroe City. Early voting ends at noon Monday in the old Jail lobby on 8th Street. Actual election Day voting happens at all 13 Knox County vote centers on Tuesday from six a-m to six p-m.
