A strong desire to vote for President has brought many people out to the polls this year for early voting in Knox County. At this point, 8,230 people cast early votes, with just over 72-hundred of those in person. That accounts for 35 percent of the eligible voters in Knox County already.
That is only 100 votes over the 2020 numbers, but is two percent higher, due to a lower number of registered voters this year. If the Election Day vote is similar, Knox County polling could reach between 76 and 70 percent of registered voteres for this year;s election.
However, even with that, Knox County Clerk David Shelton says a good number of early voters only cast Presidential ballots. That could mean fewer votes for other races down the election slate.
