The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about another round of the so-called warrant phone scam.
The sheriff’s office and the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office are receiving calls from people inquiring about a warrant for their arrest.
The scammer uses a spoofed number to call the intended victim and threaten them with arrest unless they pay them over the phone with some type of gift card or cryptocurrency.
The sheriff’s office says it will never call you and tell you there is a warrant for your arrest.
If you get a call like this, simply hang up.
