Vincennes Lincoln is one step closer from making a conference change. This morning, the Vincennes Community School Board voted 4-0 to apply for admission to join the Western Indiana Conference for athletics. The move would end a nearly five year stay with the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference. The Recommendation was made by Lincoln Principal Dr Shea Duke and athletic Director Chris Lancaster. There were several reasons stated for the possible move but the main focus would be to play competition closer to the size of Lincoln High School, play schools that have the same culture as Lincoln and also facing teams that are in the Eastern Time Zone. LHS would move from being 8th biggest school in the 10-team SIAC to the third biggest in the WIC. A majority of the coaches at Lincoln were in favor of the move as well. Teams in the WIC include Sullivan, West Vigo, Edgewood, Brown County, South Putnam, Northview, Owen Valley, and Cloverdale. A final decision is expected soon.
South Knox holds at number on in the Class 2-A girls basketball poll. North Knox remains 7th. In Class 3-A, Undefeated Greensburg is number one while Evansville Central is fourth. Vincennes Lincoln is an honorable mention and will host the Bears this Wednesday night at Alice Arena. In Class A, Orleans is number one, with North Central second. White River Valley moves into the number 10 slot while Vincennes Rivet is an honorable mention.
