Lawmakers rest assure that they will tackle the issue of property tax relief this legislative session. But, what that will look like remains to be seen.
Indiana House Speaker Todd Huston says right now property taxes is the job of the State Senate. However, in any measure that comes about, Huston wants to strike the right balance between funding and local government sustainability. House Democrat leader Phil GiaQuinta agrees that state-local balances in a top priority.
GiaQuinta also believes finding alternate ways to fund Indiana’s public education may also help reduced the property tax burden.
