A national trend is continuing where some parents have decided against vaccinating their kids against various childhood illnesses and diseases. The lack of immunizations in some places has led to a return of some common conditions that are usually handled by vaccines.
Knox County Health Department chief nurse Betty Lankford says the “anti-vax” movement got a major boost from the Covid pandemic of 2020. State requirements are that students must have various vaccinations before attending school. Susan Yochum is with the County Health Department; she says even though opinions change, the “vax facts” remain the same.
