A growing number of roundabouts have come to Indiana in recent years– especially in the central Indiana area, due to traffic congestion. However, a relative few have been installed in this area.
Indiana Department of Transportation Vincennes District spokesman Gary Bryan says their use of roundabouts—or reduced conflict intersections, or other crash reduction methods—comes after INDOT uses its due diligence.
The most used crash reduction technique in this area is reduced conflict intersections. The U-turn intersections have been used most on U-S 41. In this area, the R-C-I’s are located on 41 in areas between State Road 58 at Carlisle southward through Gibson County.
