Indiana Governor Mike Braun signed an executive order Tuesday directing state law enforcement to cooperate with ICE in targeting people who have committed crimes after entering the country illegally.
Braun stated that the policy is aimed at going after the worst offenders first, following the lead of President Trump.
A new bill in the Indiana Statehouse would require all sheriffs to assist ICE in removing undocumented immigrants facing charges, but some law enforcement agencies have pushed back, arguing that immigration enforcement is a federal responsibility.
