State lawmakers may take up a bill to dissolve your local township government.
The bill would disband township governments by 2027 if it becomes law.
The Executive Director of the Indiana Township Association says it’s a bad idea.
Debbie Driskell says doing away with townships would remove people even further from elected leaders.
The bill would place the services offered by township governments under the control of county commissioners and emergency managers.
It’s awaiting a hearing in an Indiana House committee.
