Lawrence County Illinois Prepares to Fund 700-Thousand Dollars in Paving Work

The Lawrence County Board approved the use of 800-thousand dollars in Illinois Motor Fuel Tax for county road maintenance. The tax is collected on each gallon of motor fuels that are sold across Illinois.
The Board also approved part of the motor fuel tax and federal surface transportation funds to pay Lawrence County Engineer Aaron Mefford. County records show his annual salary at 116-thousand dollars a year. Both of the M-F-T based actions passed unanimously.
