Vincennes University is mourning the loss of longtime women’s basketball coach Harry Meeks. Meeks passed away Saturday, April 19th, in Vincennes.
Meeks started as VU women’s coach in the 1991-92 season. He won over 700games in his long coaching tenure, becoming the winningest coach in V-U history. He was also elected to the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 2020. His most successful year was in 1992-93, when his team went 29-2 and finished fifth in the NJCAA Women’s National Tourament that year. He was 83 years old at the time of his death.
The winning streak is at six for the Rivet Baseball team. Last night the Patriots walloped Shoals 24-1 to move to 6-2 on the season. It was a big night for Brody Shots, who had five hits and drove in 7 runs. Rivet will go for win number seven in a row tonight at home against Shakamak.

The Lincoln golf team defeated Rivet. The Alices fired a team score of 315. Dusty Taylor has a 77. Luke Lindsey a 78. Joshua Clegg a 79 and Morgan Horst an 81.
In Middle School Action, the Rivet Tennis Team lost to North Daviess 3-2. Winning for the Patriots in singles play was Amya Brown and the doubles team of Sophia Cleghorn and Jude Ransom.
The North Knox junior high boys and girls’ track teams had a quad meet with Loogootee, Bloomfield, and Washington Catholic.
The North Knox girls won their part f the meet with 92, complared with 64 for Loogootee, 28 for Bloomfield, and 26 for WC. Winners included Kendal McGuire in three events, and Zoey Chambers and Jovi Murphy in one event each. Also, the North Knox 400 and 1600 meter relay teams were also winners.
In the boys’ meet, North Knox was second, with 71 points. Mloomfield wsa first at 78, with Washington Cahtolic third and Loogootee fourth. Tate Bottum and Dalton Higgs won one eveht each, with the 400 meter relay team also taking a first place.
