Friday, May second will be the day for an expanded conversation in Knox County about food insecurity. The conversation will be held from nine to 10-30 that morning at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Outgoing United Way director Mark Hill helped set up the conversation. He says health officials from both here and Indiana University will spur the conversation. Hill believes the session will be a good follow-up to a recent release of a United Way documentary on food insecurity.
A big part of the documentary concerns “food deserts”—in other words, areas too far away from places selling healthier food options.
