An emergency no parking order is in place starting today on Second Street from Vigo to Willow Streets. The emergency order is for escorts of large farm equipment coming into Vincennes from south of Vigo Street. The emergency order is due to other routes being affected by Indiana Department of Transportation construction projects. Vincennes City Engineer John Sprague says due to the repairs, INDOT was out of other options to route the large farm traffic. Sprague feels the current no parking order on Second Street could last through much of May.
The biggest snag with the emergency action is traffic attending nearby Rivet Junior and Senior High School. Sprague says City officials will work with the school to ensure the route stays clear of parked cars.
