The Vincennes Aldi’s location at Kimmel Crossing had its grand opening yesterday with a ribbon cutting and various activities. The Aldi location also had a soft customer opening as well starting Tuesday.
However, Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says the new Aldi’s is just the first of a set of new commercial businesses coming—or returning– to town. A new Starbucks location would be a return to Vincennes for the coffee-based chain; they were also in Vincennes from 2005 to 2007. Mayor Yochum says the development—especially in the Kimmel Crossing area—validated the city’s faith in redeveloping that area.
As for Bierhaus Boulevard, groundbreaking is expected soon on the Bierhaus Flats complex. That will include over 200 units into various multi-family complexes. Mayor Yochum also hopes that housing development will help spur future growth on other parts of Bierhaus Boulevard.
