A formal groundbreaking took place late this morning for the 35 million Bierhaus Flats apartment complex project on Bierhaus Boulevard. The site itself will be located across from Kohl’s, near the corner of Bierhaus Boulevard and Hart Street.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says the ceremony was held this morning—even though the actual work started earlier. Mayor Yochum says the earlier work was some preliminary dirt moving that had to be done.
The goal is to provide sufficient housing for various workers who work in Vincennes, but commute to work from other communities. It is also part of fulfilling a housing need spelled out in a recent survey headed up by the Knox County Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
