The person who died in a house fire this morning in Vincennes has been identified as 87 year-old Gerald Heningsmith. Heningsmith found dead and and five others were injured in a house fire that struck a house at Fourth and Seminary. Fire crews were called to the home after heavy smoke was found inside the residence.
Firemen found Heningsmith dead in the burning house, and rescued the others. All were transported from the scene. None of the injured have been identified at this time.
The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office is still investigating the fire scene at this time. Firemen were on the scene around 3-1/2 hours this morning. Severe damage was found ont he left– or older brick– side of the home.
