Pacers Fall to OKC in 7th Game

(Oklahoma City, OK) — The Oklahoma City Thunder are NBA champions for the first time. The Thunder defeated the Indiana Pacers 103-91 in Game Seven of the NBA Finals in Oklahoma City. League MVP and Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with a game-high 29 points and 12 assists. Chet Holmgren came up big on both ends of the floor with 18 points and five blocks to help the franchise to its first championship. Bennedict Mathurin came off the bench to lead Indiana with 24 points in the losing effort. Star guard Tyrese Haliburton suffered a serious lower leg injury in the first quarter and did not return.
This was the Pacers’ second ever NBA Finals appearance. They lost to the L-A Lakers in five games in 2000.
