Area counties are reporting lower year=over-year rates of unemployment for May of this year. That is according to numbers released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
In Knox County, the rate is down to 3.3%– a half percent lower than May of 2024.
Daviess County’s unemployment rate in May stood at 2.7% four-tenths of a percent lower than May of 2024
Gibson County had a rates of 2.8%. hat’s three tenths of a percent lower. Martin County’s jobless rate last month was 2.9%, two tenths of a percent lower than May of last year.
Sullivan County’s rate of 3.2% was 1.1% lower than May of 2024.
Pike County’s May unemployment rate stood at 3.4%, also a half percent lower.
Greene County’s jobless rate was 3.4%, 1.2% lower than the year before.
The average unemployment rate of Indiana’s 92 counties in May was 3.9%.
