Area law enforcement is seeing a drop in meth labs, but not necessarily a drop in overall meth use. Knox County Sheriff Doug Vantlin knows many users now prefer to buy the illegal substance, rather than make it themselves. Vantlin feels an increased supply, and the time it takes to cook, has also caused the decline in homemade labs in Knox County .
Statewide and nationwide, law enforcement has also seen the shift, and is attempting to curb the drug-smuggling rings as much as possible.
