The Knox County Council is doing its prep work before hearings start on the 2026 County budget. Traditionally, the budget hearings last over a four to five-day stretch in September.
Knox County Council president Mike Morris gives the question they need to answer as they prepare for 2026. Also, Morris isn’t forgetting one of the biggest parts of next year’s budget—the County’s workforce.
Just like all Indiana government groups, Council members are concerned about the impact of property tax cuts on their funding. However, the major impact of those cuts will be felt in the 2027 budget session.
