Back to school activities start early next month, with some school districts starting as early as Monday, August fourth. That means police officers county-wide will be put back into place as school resource officers—or SRO’s.
Knox County Sheriff’s Major Mike Fisher knows the officers in the schools are a good—and positive—first line of defense. One thing the school deputies have to deal with is a possibility of school shootings. Fisher points to first-person shooter video games as a de-sensitizing trend.
With school about to swing back into session, authorities remind everyone to remember their school safety measures. That includes both in school zones, and also around school buses.
